Planning and Building Permit Technician – Rifle, CO

Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Planning Director, performs a variety of administrative duties in support of the Planning and Building Department. Supports in the building permit process, ensuring completeness and compliance, routing permits to appropriate staff, and issuing permits once approval is received. Performs a variety of clerical and administrative support duties in the efficient operation of department; maintains and updates websites. Attends meeting and prepares meeting minutes.  Responds to requests for information from the public. This is an in-person position that is not eligible for remote work.

Experience and Training:

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.

Job Requirements: Valid Colorado Driver’s License. Must pass background check and MVR with results that are acceptable to City of Rifle. Ability to obtain Technical Certification through the International Code Council within one year of employment.

Work Experience in Positions Similar or Related to This Job: Five years of related administrative support experience in an office setting, preferably with extensive public interaction; Experience in the building or construction industry a plus.  Will consider an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

This position is full-time, with benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life insurance, as well as retirement, vacation, sick, and holiday pay. The wage range for this position is $22.76 – $26.22, depending on experience and qualifications. This position closes on Sunday, December 15th.
