The Permit Review Tech II reviews building permit applications for Engineering and Planning requirements in accordance with the Eagle County Land Use Regulations (ECLUR). They will also assist in reviewing Grading and Right-of-Way Permit applications, and conduct field inspections to ensure compliance with issued permits and for collateral reduction and corrective warranty issues.

Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm, with occasional overtime. After training, there may be some ability to work from home and/or other flexible work arrangements may be considered.
Essential Functions
- Reviews Building Permit applications for Engineering and Planning requirements (60%), Grading Permits (10%), Right-of-way Permits (10%) and completes field Inspections
- Reviews physical building plan sets for commercial and residential building permit applications
- Reviews zoning requirements and administers the Eagle County Land Use
- Regulations (“ECLUR”), applicable Building Code and the Eagle County
- Building Resolution (“Building Resolution”) as it relates to building permitting
- Verifies compliance with the pertinent ECLUR subdivision plats requirements as it relates to building permitting
- Verifies compliance with the applicable PUD Guide requirements as it relates to building permitting
- Performs requisite in-house background research identifying all ECLUR,
- Building Code and Building Resolution requirements to verify compliance of projects during the building permitting process
- Completes all building permit reviews in the allotted review time period
- Makes corrections to building permits as needed and is responsible to review those corrections when the permit is submitted for subsequent review
- Completes all Energov workflow operations as it relates to building permitting
- Creates and distributes building permit corrections reports
- Initiates correspondence with applicants as it relates to the building permitting process and information needed to process applications
- Initiates correspondence with internal Eagle County Departments to ensure consistent messaging as it relates to the Building Resolution, Building Code and the ECLUR
- Initiates correspondence with external agencies (such as the Fire Department or Pitkin or Garfield Counties) to ensure all requirements not governed by the ECLUR are met
Qualifications
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification or Registration:
- Three years of progressively responsible experience in road and bridge construction; and
- One year of vocational/technical school education or equivalent in the area of road design/construction, property development, infrastructure improvement or other related area; or, any combination of education and experience that produces the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Associates Degree in Civil Engineering and two years of related experience.
- Valid state driver’s license and satisfactory motor vehicle driving record.
Knowledge, Skill & Abilities:
- Able to learn new technology quickly and adapt to changing technological needs
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Spanish is helpful.
- Able to perform basic mathematical computations.
- Able to perform visual inspections of construction sites.
- Able to read construction plans and engineering reports
- Able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
- Able to gather and analyze information skillfully
- Able to manage difficult or emotional customer situations
- Able to respond promptly to customer needs; Solicits customer feedback to improve service
- Maintains confidentiality
