The Cybersecurity Analyst’s role is to be actively involved in monitoring and improving the status of the County’s cybersecurity posture. This includes both identifying the current state of compliance as measured against relevant standards, as well as existing gaps. It is expected that the position will be actively involved with recommending and implementing solutions necessary to maintain acceptable security compliance levels on an ongoing basis.

Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8am-5pm, plus on-call/monitoring rotation and after-hours work on projects as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Monitors current organizational status against adopted cybersecurity framework.
  • Manages follow-up and resolution of pending cybersecurity audits and/or penetration testing findings.
  • Assists with audits, reviews, and planning activities surrounding PCI, CJIS, HIPPA, and other industry standards.
  • Establishes and manages processes to ensure timely follow-up and resolution of active potential cybersecurity issues and events.
  • Establishes and manages processes and procedures to identify, prioritize, and ensure the timely patching of all servers, storage, and network devices.
  • Investigates identified cybersecurity anomalies and other known or unknown threats to the County’s technical operating environment.
  • Researches and recommends emerging industry technologies specific to the information security field.
  • Pilots and implements new security-focused technical solutions which have yet to be operationalized. This may involve existing or new tool sets (e.g. Data Loss Prevention, baseline system hardening, improved patching solutions, etc.).
  • Assists with the management and oversight of the County’s end-user security awareness program.
  • Establishes and manages agenda and action item follow-up process pertaining to regularly scheduled IT cybersecurity check-in meetings.
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of County cybersecurity policy, procedures, and standards.
  • Assists with the development, maintenance, and implementation of cybersecurity incident response and disaster recovery plans.
  • Participates in compiling information associated with an annual cyber insurance renewal.
  • Assists with developing standards related to organizational technology purchasing activities (e.g. new software application security posture evaluations, contractual clause checklists, etc.).
  • Participates in cybersecurity-related end-user outreach.
  • Observes safety and security procedures, uses equipment and materials safely and reports potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Serves the community by demonstrating Eagle County Government mission and core values and following relevant policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification, or Registration:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer-related field or the or equivalent combination of education, training and experience which produces the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a technology-related field.
  • Preferred 3+ years of progressive technology experience working in a team-oriented collaborative environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to understand and apply cybersecurity principles and concepts.
  • Exposure and / or experience with the following technologies:
    • Microsoft operating systems.
    • Endpoint Detection and Response tools.
    • Vulnerability management tools.
    • Networking protocols and principles.
    • Google client technologies (Google Workspace, Chrome OS, and Android OS).
  • Keen attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to present ideas in user friendly language to non-technical staff.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
  • Comfortable with common technology support and troubleshooting practices.
  • Strong documentation skills.
