Hiring Range: $26.01-$30.56. The maximum pay for this position is $35.12.

Join our team as a Seasonal Vegetation Stewardship Technician and contribute to the protection and restoration of Eagle County’s stunning natural landscapes!

The Vegetation Stewardship Technician will assist with integrated pest management control methods including mapping, plant identification, herbicide application, mowing, hand removal and other functions associated with weed control.

Schedule: 4 x 10-hour days: Mon-Thurs, 6am-4:30pm, generally late April to end of September, however, this can be flexible.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification, or Registration:

  • No minimum education is required; education related to Agriculture, Rangeland Management, Natural Resources, or related field is preferred.
  • Colorado Department of Agriculture Pesticide Application Technician License in an agricultural category preferred.
  • At least one (1) season of noxious weed management experience is preferred.
    Experience operating light equipment in the construction or trades fields preferred, i.e. chainsaws, mowers, brush cutters, seed drillers, ATVโ€™s, chippers, etc.
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License and a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
  • Experience working in remote, rugged locations in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to hike with a heavy backpack through varied terrain.
  • Comfort level for being on Class I-III rivers.
  • Willingness to learn or current knowledge of native and non-native plants identifications and life cycles.
  • Paid study time to acquire a Qualified Supervisors License in pesticide application for both Rangeland and Right of Way categories
