$3000 Bonus: $1500 Sign-on bonus, paid on employee’s first paycheck & up to $1500 End of Season Bonus based on performance and attendance.

Are you someone who is passionate about the outdoors, likes to work independently and also interact with people? This is the job for you! Join our Open Space Department as an Open Space Resource Tech and help make our open spaces great for our community to continue to enjoy them.

The Open Space Resource Tech is a multi-faceted position including performing maintenance such as trail work, trash removal, stocking and cleaning restrooms, mowing, resource and safety patrols, surveys and monitoring and public outreach.

Schedule: April – October. Full-time, generally 5 days per week, 8am-5pm, however flexible schedule can be considered.

Job Duties:

  • Assist with maintenance of open space properties including but not limited to, trail maintenance, and construction, restoration projects, mowing, vegetation management, trash removal, restroom stocking and cleaning, document and clean graffiti and other vandalism, pick up litter
  • Monitor boundaries for encroachments, unauthorized entry points and fencing needs, install new fencing as needed
  • Check signs for accuracy, damage and fading, replace or clean as needed
  • Collect data on trail conditions utilizing GPS 
  • Prepare reports on resource issues, visitor surveys and other projects
  • Assist visitors by providing aid or answering questions
  • Attend Open Space Advisory Committee, Commissioner and other community meetings as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • At least 18 years of age. 
  • At least one year related experience in landscaping, maintenance or related work or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which produces the required knowledge, skills and abilities..  
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures. 
  • Ability to provide an excellent user experience through positive interactions, education, and customer service in an outdoor setting
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Ability to read and comprehend county rules, regulations policies and standard procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other Department and County employees, committees and boards, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment such as trucks, tractors, mowers and string trimmers and various hand and power tools
  • Ability to perform duties independently without close supervision.
  • Ability to walk up to five miles on a paved or natural surface trail of moderate difficulty.  
  • Ability to climb, bend and lift up to 60 pounds occasionally. 
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle check.

Preferred:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree  with emphasis on natural resources
  • Park or open space maintenance experience
  • Experience working as a member of an interdisciplinary team 
  • Previous experience or certification with noxious weed management
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certifications
