$3000 Bonus: $1500 Sign-on bonus, paid on employee’s first paycheck & up to $1500 End of Season Bonus based on performance and attendance.

Do you enjoy working outside in the summer? We are currently hiring experienced and non-experienced Noxious Weed Control Technicians to join the great team at Eagle County. This position will assist with integrated pest management control methods that includes mapping, plant identifying, pesticide application, mowing, hand removal and other functions associated with pest control. 

Schedule: 4 x 10 hour days: Mon-Thurs, 6am-4:30pm, generally late April to end of September, however, this can be a bit flexible.

Job Duties:

  • Participates in vegetation management and controls noxious weeds using manual, chemical, and biological control methods. 70%
  • Performs vegetation mapping using GPS software or mobile applications. 20%
  • Operates and maintains spray vehicles and equipment. 5%
  • Collects pesticide application data and maintains clear and concise application records. 5%
  • Observes safety and security procedures, uses equipment and materials safely and reports potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Serves the community by demonstrating Eagle County Government mission and core values and following relevant policies and procedures.  
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification, or Registration:

  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License and a satisfactory motor vehicle record. 
    Preferred:
  • No minimum education is required; education related to Agriculture, Rangeland Management, Natural Resources or related field is preferred.
  • Colorado Department of Agriculture Pesticide Application Technician License in an agricultural category preferred. 
  • At least one (1) season noxious weed management experience preferred.
    Experience operating light equipment in the construction or trades fields preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Safety: Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain pesticide application equipment, and vehicles such as trucks, ATVs, tractors, trailers, electronic equipment, etc.
  • Technical Expertise: Read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions in order to apply pesticides, operate equipment and machinery.
  • Self Directed: Ability to work effectively independently as well as within a team environment.
  • Analytical Thinking: Maintaining a high degree of accuracy in calculations and records.
  • Able to lift and carry moderately heavy materials, supplies, and equipment (25-50 lbs.) frequently.
  • Able to lift heavy materials, supplies, and equipment (50-100 lbs.) occasionally.
  • Work requires continued walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
  • Use of tools and equipment requiring high degree of dexterity.
  • Frequent exposure to dirt, dust, extremes of temperature, loud noise, and noxious fumes and odors; exposed to hazards associated with equipment, machinery, and ungraded terrain at construction sites and moving vehicles on roadways.
  • Mostly fieldwork, some office work will be required.
