That’s where you come in! The Water Conservation Data Analyst is a key role in our new Water Conservation Department. Working directly two other passionate workers in the Department, the Water Conservation Data Analyst will work through our data systems to ensure appropriate water usage, a rate structure that incentivizes conservation, and secure the water supply our community will need for years to come. You will collaborate with stakeholders to enhance and implement programs that address water use for existing customers, new development, and re-development. The ideal candidate is technology and data savvy, has experience with data analysis, and cares about water use in our community.

The Schedule

This position is expected to work a hybrid schedule, working on-site 2-3 days per week, however, a fully remote working arrangement would be considered if the candidate possesses in-depth coding experience.

The Day to Day

  • Gathers, reviews, and evaluates data in support of District goals, including water conservation, water distribution, metering, finance, customer information, and other areas as needed.
  • Collaborates with other departments to accomplish goals such as creating a rate structure that aligns with water conservation goals, create and update outgoing communications and implementing Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI).
  • Creates and maintains databases of water usage, projects, and accounts; analyzes multiple databases to design rate structures; designs and revises dashboards, charts, and presentations.
  • Exercising critical thinking skills to quality check data, resolve discrepancies, and use data to solve problems.
  • Conducts or supports field audits, or other related field work.
  • Develops a communication plan to interact directly with customers, HOAs, landscapers, public agencies through concierge services, our website, brochures, WaterSmart customer portal, mailings, presentations, community events, individual contact, etc.
  • Supports communication threads with customers, communicates programmatic elements with customers and provide tools necessary for success to the Customer Service team.
  • Utilizes programs such as CIS Infinity, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), and WaterSmart to ensure development infrastructure is designed to be water efficient.
  • Joins multiple data sets to formulate a model that becomes the foundation of the District’s billing structure.
  • Supports Customer Service Specialists with the creation of tools such as scripts/talking points, charts, and customer portal training to assist in customer education around water conservation.
  • Provides tools, resources, and direct assistance to customers to empower them to manage their water use.
  • Analyzes and report metrics on adoption and effectiveness of program components to Management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Preferred Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in the environmental science, conservation, biological science, data analysis or related fields or any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities.
  • Data Analysis and Coding: Knowledge of data cleaning, analysis, and reporting. Ability to design data models and conduct in-depth statistical analyses to aid in understanding and communicating our customers behavior and trends. Ability to manipulate and evaluate large data sets to make data-driven decisions. Advanced Excel skills are a must (If-Thens, Pivot Tables, Index Match, Conditional Formatting, Data Visualizations, Data Validation). SQL coding skills, experience with Power BI Dashboards, and CIS Infinity preferred.
  • Language Skills: Ability to communicate data and technical concepts in an accessible format to a variety of non-technical audiences, such as the Board of Directors, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Research: In-depth knowledge of methods and techniques of research, data collection and analysis. Preparation and maintenance of reports, records, and files. Ability to effectively and efficiently research water conservation best practices and rate structures.
  • Critical Thinking: Must demonstrate critical problem-solving skills and the ability to connect insights across data sets and turn them into action. Will need to utilize business intelligence systems in an effective way that reduces water usage through a focused billing structure.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s license within 30 days of full-time employment and be insurable under District’s standards. Must obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within the first two (2) years of employment.

Hiring Range:

The pay range for this role is $74,326.30 – $104,052.62 annually. Starting salary depends on qualifications but generally falls within the minimum and midpoint of the pay range.
