As a member of the Family Services team, the Family Services Coordinator is responsible for focusing on the selection, education, mentoring, and service to Habitat Partner Families. The primary objectives of this position are to oversee the Habitat partner family selection process and empower Habitat partner families to care for themselves and their homes independently and responsibly.

Job Duties

Family Selection 

  • Oversee family selection process, which involves selecting families based on their need, ability to pay, and willingness to work in partnership with Habitat.
  • Serve as the lead member of the Family Selection Committee 
    Work in conjunction with Marketing Manager, Communications and Events Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator, and Building Futures Coordinator 
    Conduct informational community meetings to discuss HFHVV’s home ownership program and selection process

Family Education, Mentoring, Sweat Equity and Event Participation 

  • Conduct informal credit counseling sessions for applicants with the goal of creating individual road maps for applicants to qualify.
  • Execute and facilitate the family services curriculum, which aims to empower Habitat families so they can care for themselves and their homes independently and responsibly through the design and teaching of homeowner education classes. 
  • Facilitate move in process, which includes the preparing and signing of partner family leases for the rental period between move in and closing, obtaining insurance and transferring utilities.
  • Coordinate family participation in events and speaking engagements, gather family testimonials, and coordinate interpretation of events if needed 

Required Competencies  

  • Bilingual (Spanish and English) – Advanced English speaker with intermediate English reading and writing skills.
  • Willingness to use learned experience as well as research to develop methods for how families are served.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with other agencies and organizations to meet community needs and ensure services are not duplicated.
  • Must be person-centered with the ability to actively listen to clients, be able to ask deep questions, and meet clients where they are.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn new technology and motivation to work and research independently

Preferred competencies:  

  • Seeking an applicant with extensive experience, preferably lived experience, and cultural knowledge in a variety of Latino/ Hispanic/ Latina/ Latinx cultures.
  • Basic computer skills, MS Office, email, basic excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to compose professional email in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to attend after-hours or off-site meetings as needed on an occasional basis. 

Compensation & Benefits  

This is a full-time, salaried position based at our affiliate office in Avon, CO. The salary range for this position is currently $49,923 – $65,885 per year. Initial compensation is determined based on the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience.  Benefits offered include health insurance, life insurance, retirement plan with 6% employer match, up to 6 weeks of vacation, holiday, and sick time, paid medical leave and more.
