POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Marketing leads the award-winning Mammoth Lakes Tourism marketing team and is responsible for the development of the annual integrated strategic marketing plan and implementation of the domestic leisure market’s paid and owned channel programming, while managing multiple budgets. The Director of Marketing works diligently on behalf of its internal and external stakeholders, leads with integrity and is highly accountable.

The ideal candidate for this role is a passionate and experienced senior-level marketing professional who will join a dynamic team and hit the ground running with minimal assistance or supervision.

 Mobilizing the marketing team. You understand that an award-winning organization is the result of a strong team. You have deep expertise in leveraging each team member’s unique skill set and you understand the level of care, development and inspiration needed to best support them. You believe in being closely aligned and collaborative with other department directors and have a strong ability to manage up to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.

 Capitalize on expertise. Part of your marketing (extended) team is your agency-of-record and vendor relationships. You understand the expertise and value these parties bring to the table and allow them to operate at their full potential while providing a strong professional level of collaboration, response and support.

 Data-based decisions. Use data to develop programming, KPIs to measure performance, optimize and repeat.

 Program management best practices. The Director manages program and project processes that incorporate transparent, collaborative and shareable best practices.

BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

 Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a major in Business Administration, Marketing or Communications, and/or related field.

  •  MBA or master’s degree in related field preferred

 10+ years of proven success in marketing leadership in fast-paced organizations, preferably with in the travel/tourism or related industry

 Experience to support the building, management and reporting of the $5+M marketing department budget

 3+ years in direct management of agency-of-record relationship and direct reports in a similar or larger sized organization

 Proven capability and high comfort level managing large scale projects with long lead times (brand development, campaign development, large scale website builds, content production, etc.)

 Track record as a successful brand manager

 Legal, insurance and permitting knowledge regarding contracting, production, exhibiting, logo/imagery/music licensing and usage rights, sweepstakes, etc.

 Comfortable analyzing market research and communicating its results

 Business, political and cross-cultural acumen

  •  Interagency partnership program experience preferred

 Compelling communicator (written, verbal and presentation) and final editor able to articulately, accurately and confidently inform, influence and lead internal and external stakeholders

 Tenacious about achieving high standards of performance and professionalism

 Seek out, quickly learn and embrace new technology related to marketing as standard practice and incorporate IT security best practices. Ability to use Mac, Microsoft Office suite and social media automation tools, CMS, online document sharing software, project management software, etc.

 Knowledge and application of sustainable tourism practices

 Experience working with and applying 360 technologies

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

 Requires varied hours and travel for meetings, trade shows, etc. Weekend work and irregular hours may be required. Other duties as assigned.

 Ability to travel by air, drive a vehicle and maintain a valid driver’s license throughout employment.

 Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

SALARY RANGE

$115,000 to $125,000 based on experience, exempt position

Insurance

 You will be covered 100% (medical, dental & vision) with a $35 Anthem co-pay program – you are eligible for insurance benefits on the first of the next month after your start date. Dependent insurance is also available at your cost.

Retirement Plan

 You will be eligible to participate in our 401k program 90 days (three months) after your start date. Mammoth Lakes Tourism will match up to 4% based on a 5% salary deferral (you may contribute up to 15%).

Personal Time Off (PTO) and Holidays

 You will accrue personal time off at a rate of 5 hours per pay period which equates to 15 days annually.

 You will receive three paid Holidays (Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day are planned days off as the office is closed), plus two “floating” holidays to be used at your leisure.
