SGM is seeking a SUE Technician. Our ideal candidate will strongly desire to live, work, and play in Western Colorado!ย ย This position is open to candidates with or without prior experience, as SGM Inc. is willing to train the right person for the role. This job posting represents an opportunity for an individual to start/continue a career in Subsurface Utility Engineering with our company in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with a team to tackle a wide variety of utility projects.
Utilizing a range of specialized technologies including electromagnetic line locators, ground penetrating radar, GPS, conventional survey, and vacuum excavation to help mitigate risks associated with new infrastructure design and construction.
Identify and map complex subsurface utility installations, ultimately enhancing public safety and infrastructure development.
Read and interpret utility records, as-built and survey drawings, and construction plans.
Designate existing utilities using electromagnetic and geophysical technologies.
Oversee the operation of vacuum excavation trucks and their staff, performing test holes to expose utilities.
Utilize appropriate traffic management procedures.
Represent the SGM in the field, communicating and coordinating with utility companies and project stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent certificate.
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Basic computer skills with the ability to learn and understand new software.
High level of reading comprehension.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and walk long distances daily.
Must be able to occasionally travel out of town for multiday projects
Must have a valid driverโs license and the ability to pass a motor vehicle record check.

Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in a related field is a plus, but not required.
Familiarity with the ASCE 38 Standard and/or Colorado SUE Law
OSHA certification and confined space entry certification are a plus but not required.

Environmental and Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
Ability to walk on varied terrain for long distances.
Work outside in all weather conditions.
Ability to work around moving traffic and within traffic control areas.
Comfortable using basic power tools.
Able to perform repetitive physical tasks.
