This highly seasonal HR department requires a manager who can oversee the operations from the employee’s point of hire to termination. Responsibilities generally include Benefits administration, managing the Kronos HRIS system, orientations, workers compensation reporting, and employee-relations investigations. The HR Manager will oversee the front desk staff, partner with Finance and Payroll, and perform data entry, while ensuring regulatory and policy compliance. This position also plays a significant role in ensuring that we deliver a friendly and professional employee experience throughout our resort.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Five years or more H.R. management experience in a resort (prefer ski industry) setting
Strong work ethic
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Extensive knowledge inBenefit administration, including ACA requirements
401k administration
California Workers Compensation laws
California labor laws, particularly as applicable to the ski industry
Extensive experience in using HRIS systems to process employee data, generate reports, provide basic programming and ability to use various HRIS modules. Workforce Ready experience a PLUS
Attention to detail
Possess excellent “people skills”
Ability to work well with employees and managers at all levels to resolve employee issues and job related problems
WHAT’S UNIQUE ABOUT US?
We operate in a snowbound village in the winter. We sometimes transport our presentation materials via a sled that we pull (ourselves) across the resort.
We often must hike into our office and we shovel out our own doorway during snow storms. We are hardy and resilient.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
Manage the Human Resources front desk staff
Oversee all in-take and out-processing protocols, in an efficient and compliant manner
Conduct injury-related investigations, report on and oversee workers compensation claims
Accurate and timely administration of employee benefits: Health and dental insurance, 401k, life and seasonal accident insurance. Manage Open Enrollment processes
Keep a positive and friendly attitude when dealing with all employees and managers
Manage the paper workflow and the data flow of information for the department
Safeguard sensitive information
Oversee workers compensation matters and report on workers compensation injuries, while ensuring that employees get “best of” care
Conduct employee relations investigations. Allow employees to voice opinions and grievances, counsel personnel with interpersonal problems and assist in conflict resolution
Constantly work to develop and facilitate orientations, training and programs which improve employee retention, customer service skills, and motivation
Regular review of handbooks, forms, and manuals for compliance and improve as needed
Facilitate safety meeting topics and insuring company-wide compliance with IIPP standards
Supportive of management on company policy matters
Assist department heads with compliance with Federal and California Labor Law and OSHA requirements
