The Accountant I position is responsible for providing financial, administrative, and clerical services, including processing and monitoring sales tax, real estate transfer tax, and other revenues to ensure effective, efficient, and accurate financial and administrative operations. In addition, this position cross-trains in vendor set-up, processing purchase requisitions and purchase orders. ACCOUNTANT I FULL JOB DESCRIPTION HERE The Accountant II position is responsible for providing advanced financial, administrative, and clerical services. In addition, this position cross-trains in other departments of finance. ACCOUNTANT II FULL JOB DESCRIPTION HERE E SSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Receives citizens and provides routine information or refers them to the appropriate person for assistance 2. Receives inquiries from Town employees and the public regarding general financial information and response to questions 3. Interprets the Town of Avon’s Municipal Code pertaining to finance and taxes, responds to inquiring and assists taxpayers in understanding and complying with the codes 4. Issue’s business licenses and sales tax licenses, maintains subsequent database, and examines and enters paper applications and returns into database 5. Downloads daily bank balances from online banking, maintains spreadsheet for cash flow and reconciles bank accounts 6. Monitors customer accounts for non-payments, delayed payments, and other irregularities; issues delinquent payment letters; and maintains contact with owners or managers of businesses via phone, email, mail, or personally regarding delinquencies 7. Initiates collect efforts regarding delinquencies, issues summonses to vendors for non-payment 8. Participates in annual audits and provides audit schedules as assigned 9. Prepares documents for sales tax audits on customers; organizes, corresponds, and files documents appropriately 10. Reconciles Town Revenues (sales tax, accommodation tax, business licenses, etc.) 11. Follows established procedures for accepting payments and issuing receipts for all Town revenues, matches invoices to payments received, resolves discrepancies, reconciles customer accounts, maintains a filing system for revenues and taxes, balances receipts and prepares bank deposit 12.
