Human Resources Generalist I – II

Human Resource Generalists perform complex and diverse HR administrative, technical, analytical and professional work. Incumbents in the position are leaders in supporting and facilitating change, and serve in a variety of HR Management/Development and Organizational Development key roles. In several HR core competency areas of work, HR Generalists facilitate, oversee, manage, supervise, coordinate, collaborate and lead initiatives, programs and policy. HR Generalists perform work in a manner consistent with and exemplary of the Town’s Culture Statement and the Town’s Equal Opportunity Employment policy.

 Placement within the HR Generalist job series is at the discretion of management and is generally based on organizational needs and qualifications. The following serves as a general framework of the minimum requirements (and preferences) for placement at each level: 

HR Generalist I (Entry Level – Minimum Requirements & Preferences) 

Salary Range:  $50,900 (min), $60,600 (mid), $70,300 (max) 

• Bachelor’s Degree (HRM, Business Adm, Public Adm/Policy, or related field desired)
• 1-4 years of HR experience (preferred)
• 2 years of Public Sector experience (preferred)
• Other requirements as deemed necessary
• Salary Range:  $50,900 (min), $60,600 (mid), $70,300 (max) 

HR Generalist II (Minimum Requirements & Preferences) 

Salary Range:  $60,200 (min), $73,200 (mid), $86,200 (max)

• Bachelor’s Degree (HRM, Business Adm, Public Adm/Policy, or related field desired)
• 3 or more years of HR/related supervisory experience*
• 4+ years of experience in an HR Generalist or related role w/Town or other organization (Public Sector desired)
• SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification desired by not required
• Other requirements as deemed necessary 
  *(Experience as a supervisor/leader in an administrative or service functional area may substitute if related HR responsibilities included performance management, recruitment, training program management, or similar work.)
