Position Title: Code Enforcement Officer

Reports to/Department: Chief of Police or Designee, Public Safety Department

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, eligible for overtime

Direct reports to this position: None

Hiring Range: $26.04 – $31.25/Hourly, maximum pay is $36.45/Hourly.  Pay above the hiring range may be considered based on background and experience.

Pre-Hire Requirements: Must pass all background checks and investigation. This may include, but is not limited to, oral board evaluation(s), written assessment, psychological evaluation, fit-for-duty physical, school and employer record checks, fingerprint criminal background checks, credit analysis, financial records assessment, review of driving record, and reference checks. No felony convictions, arrests or misdemeanors as stated in § 24-31-305 C.R.S and CSP 5.12.

Job Summary: Serves within the Police Department with close collaboration with the Community Development Department and Public Works Department. Performs a variety of technical duties in support of the Town’s local code enforcement program; monitors and enforces a variety of applicable ordinances, codes and regulations related to zoning, land use, nuisance, health and safety, blight, graffiti, water and waste, and other matters of public concern; and serves as a resource and provides information on Town regulations to property owners, residents, businesses, the general public and other Town departments and divisions. Ensures proper compliance with all department and Town values, policies, and procedures as well as applicable state and federal laws.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

Required Experience, Education and Licenses:

  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training and/or college level coursework in criminal justice, public administration, business administration, or other related field.
  • One (1) year of work experience involving a high level of public contact including some experience dealing with the public in an enforcement, inspection, investigation, or customer service capacity. Experience that includes the enforcement of municipal codes is highly desirable.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to obtain a Colorado License within 90 days of hire.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time position with health insurance benefits. Normal days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • May be expected to attend evening committee meetings, special work sessions, and may assist with some evening and weekend events.
