Position Title: Public Works Inspector
Reports to/Department: Public Works Operations Manager / Town Engineer
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, eligible for overtime, full-time
Hiring Range: $31.65-$37.98/Hourly, based on qualifications.
Pre-Hire Requirements: Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license and be insurable under Town standards. Requires proof of safe motor vehicle record and criminal background check.
Position Summary: Responsible for the field inspection and quality control of construction projects such as, but not limited to, potable water, non-potable water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, street, and shallow utility construction. Additionally, provides input on field conditions during project planning, coordination with engineering consultants, coordination with land developers, and coordination with construction contractors. The Public Works Inspector will function as the Town’s representative in the field during construction. Position receives direction from Town Engineer, Utility Manager, Operations Manager, and Public Works Director.
Experience, Training and Certifications:
· 3-5 years related construction experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience that produces the knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.
· Must possess a valid CO driver’s license within 60 days of employment and provide proof of a safe driving record and maintain a safe driving record.
· Bilingual Spanish Speaking Skills helpful.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position with health insurance benefits. This is a fulltime, benefits eligible position. Normal days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Other hours to perform snowplow and other emergencies (water breaks, wastewater breaks, etc.) and support Special Events. This position requires the ability to provide on-call responses, which may require evening and weekend hours.
