Assistant Chief of Police

Assistant Chief of Police, Town of Silt.  This active and growing rural community, population 3600, located along I-70 in western Colorado, is accepting candidates for the position of Assistant Chief of Police.  The Town is seeking a dedicated law enforcement professional who can inspire the confidence of the community, provide stellar leadership, and establish and maintain strong relationships with a variety of constituents.  The successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree, supplemented by advanced courses in criminal justice, police science and administration and considerable policing experience, including supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer candidates with ten years of police experience including five years in a supervisory, managerial, command or administrative capacity, and experience in handling all manner of administrative issues. This position includes patrol, investigative, administrative and community duties.  Patrol car is provided for Town related uses, including commuting.  The department consists of a Chief, Assistant Chief, seven full-time officers and one part-time administrative position.  Hiring range for this exempt, appointed position is $80,000 – $90,000 DOQ.  The Town offers a very competitive benefits package, including FPPA retirement.  Candidates must also possess a Colorado P.O.S.T. certification within six months of hire and valid Colorado driver’s license.  Applications must be submitted no later than November 28, 2022.  Employment application available at www.townofsilt.org.
