The Boarding House Manager ensures a cooperative, safe, and sustainable living environment for Telluride’s workforce at the boarding house. This is a 15-20 hour/week position required to live on-site at the Boarding House with on-call responsibilities in exchange for a housing unit.

Community Management
- Promote a healthy and sustainable living environment at the Boarding House
- Design and implement programs and activities that enhance the social, educational, community, and personal development of residents
- Establish standards and rules for cooperative living
- Create a process for resolving disputes and dealing with infractions
- Communicate standards to all tenants and monitor compliance as needed
- Incorporate tenant concerns and feedback into policies
- Receive and follow up on any complaints
- Be available to residents daily
- Respond to requests during set hours and emergencies when on call
Facilities Management
- Assist with developing long-term plans to address the Boarding House maintenance, repair, and replacement needs
- Ensure that appropriate emergency, corrective, and routine maintenance programs are in place and are updated as required
- Monitors maintenance budget and communicates with Rental Housing Director and Maintenance Supervisor any areas of concern
- Responds to maintenance problems either with the work order process or emergency corrections
- Monitors janitorial and maintenance work
Administration
- Promote the sustainability of the boarding house by marketing, responding to inquiries, distributing information, and arranging tours
- Processes Boarding House applications, background checks and interviews for prospective tenants
- Provides information on move-in for new tenants, including all policies and standards
- Assists with monthly lease collections
- Meets with Rental Housing staff regularly
- Maintains office hours sufficient to meet Boarding House tenant needs
Assists with office hours at the Housing Department office - Assists with all administrative duties at the Housing Department office
- Prepares budget recommendations and assures budget controls
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; College degree or relevant experience; experience working with the public; general office and computer skills, including Excel and Word; Basic accounting knowledge; excellent management, communication, and conflict management skills; basic maintenance skills, knowledge of safety rules; preferred bilingual, Spanish fluency
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
Knowledge of: safety rules and regulations; public speaking; conflict management resolution; basic accounting.
Skill in: effective communication; organization; Mircosoft Office and other computer applications; understanding, explaining, and applying regulations.
Salary
Part-time year-round position.
15-20 hours per week; required to live on-site at the Boarding House with on-call responsibilities in exchange for a housing unit. FLSA Status: Non- exempt.
