About the Role:
As a Development Services Technician, you will:

What You’ll Do:
As a Development Services Technician, you’ll be at the forefront of our mission to provide exceptional service to our residents and visitors. Your role will be diverse and impactful, with responsibilities that include:
Deliver Unmatched Customer Service: Whether you’re assisting walk-in customers or answering telephone inquiries, you’ll ensure every interaction is positive, informative, and leaves our customers feeling supported. You’ll answer questions accurately, provide options, and guide customers to additional resources when needed.
Assist with Application Submittals and Research: You’ll help customers navigate the application process, ensuring they have everything they need to succeed. Your attention to detail will be crucial as you process and issue building and fire permits, contractor registrations, and planning applications.
Organize and Manage Information: You’ll play a key role in maintaining our department’s records, ensuring that both active and archived information is stored systematically and easily accessible. Your work will help keep our electronic document management system up-to-date and consistent.
Drive Continuous Improvement: You’ll actively seek ways to enhance our customer service and streamline the development review process. Your innovative ideas will contribute to making our department more efficient and responsive to the needs of our community.
Leverage Technology: You’ll utilize cutting-edge technology to improve our processes, from entering and updating information in our permitting software database to scanning and routing plans electronically. Your technical savvy will help us stay ahead of the curve.
Communicate Technical Information: Over time, you’ll become a trusted resource for our customers, explaining the planning and building permit application process, and communicating essential information about building codes, zoning, and design regulations. You’ll also collaborate with our environmental, housing, and planning teams to provide comprehensive support at the counter.
Maintain Excellence in Operations: You’ll regularly review and update our Department’s Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring that we continue to operate at the highest standards.
What You Bring To the Team:
Strong Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a solid understanding of office technology are essential.
Experience and Organization: With 3-4 years of experience in an office environment, you’re highly organized and adept at managing multiple tasks in a busy setting.
Communication and Leadership: Your outstanding communication skills make you a natural leader and self-starter, capable of guiding both colleagues and customers through complex processes.
