The Director of FP&A reports directly to the Senior Director of Finance & Accounting and plays an integral role within the greater finance team providing high-level financial planning and analysis support.  The Director of FP&A is responsible for contributing to the financial planning process to ensure data-driven decision-making support and forward-looking financial management for the VVF.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

·         Synthesize complex information, generate actionable financial and business insights, and clearly articulate the financial future of the VVF to all stakeholders.

·         Perform complex and varied analyses to enable sound decision-making around near-term and long-term business risks and opportunities, identifying key business insights through data analysis and delivering synthesized and impactful communications (verbally and in writing) that enable better business decisions and improved enterprise value.

·         Act as an agile and trusted analyst/advisor of material business trends impacting enterprise performance to the Finance Leadership team; build strong operating processes/tools/models and relationships to enable quick and proactive response times in a collaborative manner that contributes to the team’s high-performance culture.

·         Support the Senior Director by acting as a trusted analyst and advisor on business trends impacting short-term and long-term financial performance.

·         Communicate financial trends and planning with Executive Team, Board of Directors, and sub-committees.

·         Manage all budget forecasting across all events and programs.

·         Establish credibility as a leader who can both build strong relationship and challenge leaders across the organization on financial results and plans.

·         Build close partnerships with leaders across all VVF departments and programs.

·         Ad hoc projects as assigned.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

 

A successful candidate should possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or graduate finance degree preferred.
  • Not For Profit accounting experience desired.
  • At least five years of transferable professional experience.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize information, develop insights and communicate effectively in presentations.
  • Understanding of KPI methodology.
  • Ability to successfully manage a workload that balances long-range planning with the daily demands of holding a key position within a team.
  • Carry out responsibilities without detailed instruction and handle competing demands with tact and creativity.
  • Proven interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively and develop good working relationships within an organization.
  • A deep appreciation for, and an ability to, successfully articulate the mission and aspirations of the Vail Valley Foundation.
  • Must be proficient in the English language, both written and oral.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel, and prior experience with Blackbaud’s Financial Edge and Raisers Edge is preferred.
  • Strong technology and database skills with a willingness to streamline processes.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
