Position Summary: Depending on the qualifications of the candidate, this position will be filled at either the Planner II or III/Senior Planner level. The position performs a wide range of current and long-range professional planning duties to effectively manage the growth and development of the Town.  Duties include but are not limited to the formulation, implementation, and modification of the Town of Eagle’s Land Use and Development Code and long-range plans, bringing current projects through the development review process, working with all department staff to ensure process and procedures are in place. This position is also responsible for aiding other Town of Eagle departments with a variety of special projects.  Planner III is differentiated from Planner II in the complexity of cases, code amendments, and policy work completed.  The job is multi-faceted, and town planners frequently perform other duties as assigned. 

Placement within the II, or III level of this position is at the discretion of management and is generally based on organizational needs and qualifications.  The following serves as a general framework of the minimum requirements for placement at each level.

Planner II, Qualifications and Hiring Range: $65,833 – $79,000/annually .The maximum earning potential for this position is $92,167. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Urban/Regional Planning, Urban Design, Architecture or related field and two – four (2-4) years of experience in Municipal, County, or Regional Planning. Master’s degree preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered.

Planner III/Sr. Planner, Qualifications and Hiring Range: $75,907 – $94,830/annually. The maximum earning potential for this position is $113,753. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Urban/Regional Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, or related field and a minimum of four – six (4-6) years of experience in Municipal, County, or Regional Planning. Master’s degree and AICP certification preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered.

Licenses, Languages, and Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record required.
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) Certification preferred for Planner III level.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish fluency preferred, not required. Incentive pay available.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:  This is a full-time, benefits eligible position. Normal days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, with a typical 8-hour day, flexible between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Regular, predictable, and dependable on-site workplace attendance is an essential function of the job, however flexibility in scheduling is supported. Once fully trained, may telecommute ½ or 1 day weekly depending upon meetings & projects. Attends Planning & Zoning Committee meetings (1st and 3rd Tuesday at 6 p.m.), Town Council meetings (2nd and 4th Tuesday at 6 p.m.), and various committee meetings that typically occur during regular business hours.
