The City of Durango’s Information Technology (IT) Department is looking for a Systems Analyst II to optimize and manage computerized information systems that support the operational efficiency of the Durango Police Department (PD). You will be the technical lead for the Spillman application, managing its configuration and security on the Linux platform. You will also be responsible for supporting applications like OpenFox and Statelink; maintaining PD’s mobile technology; collaborating with the court system; and serving as the Local Agency Security Officer, adhering to Colorado Justice Information Systems (CJIS) standards.
In this role, you’ll report to the Infrastructure and Security Manager, while working closely with and receiving guidance from Police Department leadership. Additionally, you’ll be a part of the broader IT team, which supports over 300 users spanning multiple facilities from the Recreation Center to the 911 Durango Communications Center to the Durango La Plata County Airport.
What You’ll Do in This Role:
- Perform configuration, administration, and support of the Spillman application and its servers, which operate on a Linux operating system. This includes:
- Managing data integrity, archives, backups, storage, and security.
- Maintaining the database structure, conducting analysis, and managing interfaces.
- Generating reports and researching and implementing system enhancements to support Police Department users.
- Support, install, manage licenses, and coordinate with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for OpenFox and StateLink applications used by the Police Department.
- Maintain interfaces between Police Department systems, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with vendors for functionality.
- Provide additional support for other Police Department-specific systems and applications.
- Configures and supports the Police Department’s mobile wireless system, including:
- In-car and body-worn cameras and the associated video management system.
- Mobile data terminals, application software, and peripherals.
Coordinates vehicle configuration requirements with Fleet personnel.
- Provides support and collaborates with the local court system on their IT needs and shared applications, such as municipal court systems.
- Acts as the Local Agency Security Officer for the Durango Police Department.
- Participates in regulatory Colorado Justice Information Systems (CJIS) audits and ensures compliance with relevant standards.
- Maintain 24-hour on-call availability (when assigned) to address critical issues at the Police Department, 911 Communications Center, and Durango Fire Protection District.
You Have:
- A bachelor’s degree with coursework in management information systems, computer science, geographic information systems (GIS), business administration, or a related field.
- Four years of progressively responsible experience in supporting desktops, laptops, tablets, servers, and information systems, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- CompTIA A+ certification.
- Spillman Application Administrator (SAA) certification, or the ability to achieve certification within six (6) months of start date.
- Experience analyzing, designing, developing, and implementing software, hardware, and network security solutions that achieve system integration and compliance with internet standards and protocols.
- The ability to interpret complex technical documents, troubleshoot issues, and develop logical solutions to complex computer hardware and software problems.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical ideas in user-friendly language and write technical specifications.
*This position requires satisfactory completion of a comprehensive background investigation to include local, state, and federal criminal history. Successful candidates must maintain local residency (within 100 miles of Durango, CO) upon hire.
