This is a joint internship between the town of Rico and the West End (towns of Nucla, Naturita and Norwood),
and the Southwest Innovation Corridor, an initiative of the Telluride Foundation. The intern will split 40 hours per
week of work between Rico and the West End from June-August 2018.

While geographically disparate, the goals of both regions, Rico and the West End, are rooted in the same objectives. These communities are coming together to re-build their hometowns, stopping the cycles of a post-mineral extraction economy to raise the livelihoods of all who visit and live there. Through a concerted marketing effort, these towns aim to increase tourism and external communication with potential tourists, as well as improve internal communication between businesses and organizations that exist in the region.

In Rico, the Marketing and Business Support Intern will assist in developing a cohesive image of the community in collaboration with its partnering non-profit and business organizations by updating website content and social media platforms, as well as marketing events. The intern will run a joint marketing campaign throughout the summer. This campaign will include creating and maintaining the community calendar, supporting and planning events, and pushing information through social media, thereby bringing greater awareness of the assets of this beautiful place.

In the West End, the Marketing and Business Support Intern will provide technical assistance to local businesses and support the goals of the Southwest Innovation Corridor. The intern will assist the Chambers of Commerce, Trails committees, Region 10, SWIC and the West End Economic Development Council (WEEDC) in marketing the region, events and business training workshops happening throughout the summer.
