Program Director for Junior Camp Branch

Dates:

• Director Training May 23rd – June 3rd  
• Staff training – June 6th  – 10th 
• Camp Operations – June 13th  – August 19th

Essential Job Functions:

1. Design, deliver and evaluate safe, quality camp programs to meet the needs and interests of the Junior Camp Branch.

• Create programming for 18-20 campers each week
• Ensure activity plans are prepared and implemented that are safe, meet camp objectives, and are appropriate for camper abilities.
• Remain current with information on the developmental needs of youth.
• Annually seek and analyze input from staff regarding the quality, safety, and enjoyment of the program.
• Set a good example of leading activities, and train staff to in turn lead the camp activities.

2. Develop and implement schedules and records for all areas of Junior Camp.

• Create camper and activity schedules for Junior Camp.
• Develop and supervise staff schedule for programs and activities in Junior Camp.
• Collect and evaluate records; report and evaluate camp program and activity areas.

3. Be the face of Junior camp

• Ensure that camp staff and campers know and follow safety and educational procedures during camp programs.
• Conduct morning announcements, getting campers excited for camp, and announcing camp rules

4. Assist with Gear Maintenance and care of physical facilities of Junior Camp

• Fix all gear for daily use in Junior Camp
• Maintain safety standards of all gear for normal use 
• Provide guidelines for programs utilizing camp equipment.
• Oversee daily checks of area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair.
• Ensure that areas are kept fee of hazards and debris.

5. Regularly Monitor, and evaluate staff.

• Maintain a fun work environment by checking in, informal, with staff regularly
• Shaping activities and schedules to reflect the interests of our counselors
• Encourage all staff to pursue our camp goals passionately
• Take note of staff goals and help them to achieve their own milestones
