ABOUT THE ROLE
The Fleet Asset Supervisor oversees Core Transit’s fleet maintenance operations to ensure optimal performance and availability of vehicles. This includes managing third-party maintenance contracts, developing preventative maintenance schedules, tracking vehicle performance data, and supporting procurement and budgeting activities. The role ensures compliance with FTA regulations and Core Transit standards while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. This position reports directly to the Director of Transportation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSABILITIES
- Manages the Fleet Maintenance budget in coordination with the Director of Transportation, including cost tracking and financial documentation.
- Participates in fleet procurement and replacement planning.
- Develops and implements policies for equipment operations, including FTA-required Asset Management Plans.
- Coordinates vehicle maintenance schedules with internal teams and external vendors.
- Communicates vehicle availability and maintenance needs with the Operations team.
- Maintains wash bay equipment and supplies, overseeing fueling operations and equipment functionality.
- Monitors and reports on driver pre- and post-trip inspections and compliance.
- Ensures safety standards, hazardous material handling, and workplace cleanliness are met.
- Leads staff training, provides performance feedback, and participates in disciplinary actions as necessary.
- Tracks and analyzes vehicle data such as mileage, fuel usage, preventative maintenance compliance, and maintenance costs.
- Prepares reports for leadership on fleet usage, performance, condition, and emissions.
NENECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Basic understanding of transit vehicle and heavy-duty vehicle operations and maintenance.
- Ability to analyze data, manage records, and create detailed reports.
- Effective leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and fleet management software.
- Strong problem-solving and planning capabilities.
- Ability to operate and train others on automotive and heavy equipment.
- Strong commitment to safety, customer service, and continuous improvement in all aspects of work.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Technical training or experience in heavy vehicle maintenance preferred.
- At least two (2) years of supervisory experience required.
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
- Must obtain Colorado CDL Class B within six (6) months of employment.
- Bilingual Spanish-speaking ability preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
- This is a safety-sensitive position under FTA regulations.
- Must be available for on-call response and emergency situations as needed.
LOCATION & COMMITMENTS
Primary work location is based in Eagle County, Colorado, with the main office in Gypsum. Travel to other locations such as Vail, Leadville, and Avon may be required.
This is a full-time, on-site position, which may include weekends, evenings, and on-call shifts as necessary.

Hearing/Speaking: Requires effective communication in person, over the phone, and via radio systems.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position involves a mix of indoor and outdoor environments, including office settings, maintenance garages, vehicle yards, and various service locations. Work involves exposure to changing weather conditions, including sun, rain, wind, snow, and cold temperatures, along with loud noises and potential hazards such as moving vehicles and heavy equipment. Safety precautions and personal protective equipment are required in specific environments to ensure employee wellness.
