Transit Mechanic I

The Transit Mechanic I will service and perform preventive maintenance and minor repair work on transit buses and equipment. This is an entry-level position with the possibility of advancement.

Transit Mechanic II

The Transit Mechanic II will perform preventive maintenance, diagnoses, and repair work on transit buses and equipment. This is a journey-level, skilled position with the possibility of advancement.

Eagle County Government is looking to fill one position, however, we are willing to consider applicants of all levels. See the descriptions and qualifications for all levels of Transit Mechanic I and II, below.

Schedule: 4-10’s- M-F, 8am-6:30pm- Flexible work arrangement.

Transit Mechanic I

Qualifications:

  • No preferred education or degree.
  • One year performing routine maintenance on gasoline or diesel-powered vehicles and one year experience in the repair of tires, tubes and wheels; or, any combination of education and experience which produces the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or be able to obtain such CDL within six (6) months of employment.

Transit Mechanic II

Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years on-the job experience as a journey-level mechanic performing routine maintenance on gasoline or diesel-powered vehicles; or, any combination of education and experience which produces the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Completion of a technical training program with ASE certifications in Automotive, Medium/Heavy Truck or Transit Bus. – preferred
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or be able to obtain such CDL within six (6) months of employment.
