The agency operates a combination system and provides response to fire, rescue, hazardous materials, and wildland incidents. The agency runs Advanced Life Support ambulances and provides transport services to two Level III trauma centers in the valley. The communities of Snowmass Village, Basalt, El Jebel, Old Snowmass, and Thomasville all rely on RFFR for 24/7 emergency services.

ONE (1) to THREE (3) full-time Firefighter/EMT, preferred PARAMEDICS

Firefighter/EMT

Under supervision, provides assistance with fire suppression, hazardous material response, rescue operations, and Basic Life Support emergency medical services; operates appropriate Authority apparatus dependent on emergency response; participates in fire training, fire prevention, public education, and station and equipment maintenance activities.

Firefighter/Paramedic

Under supervision, provides assistance with fire suppression, hazardous material response, rescue operations, and Advanced Life Support emergency medical services; operates appropriate Authority apparatus dependent on emergency response; participates in fire training, fire prevention, public education, and station and equipment maintenance activities.

Single Role Paramedic

Under supervision, the position is responsible for emergency medical services delivery to the town of Snowmass Village, the town of Basalt, and surrounding areas; this includes: basic & advanced life support EMS.  Operates appropriate Authority apparatus dependent on emergency response, public education, and station and equipment maintenance activities.  A well-qualified applicant would be a Paramedic with the appropriate certifications as listed. 

Location:                                            Stations 41, 42, and 45

Work Schedule:                                  48/96 hour shift set schedule, plus events and callbacks as available.

Full-Time Firefighter/EMT Minimum Qualifications:      

The candidate must have the following minimum qualifications:

1.      High school diploma or GED

2.      Valid Colorado EMT or National Registry EMT certification or higher, obtained within two (2) months of hire

3.      Valid Colorado Driver’s License (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment)

4.      Valid Colorado, or IFSAC, or Pro-Board Fire Fighter I

5.      Valid Colorado, or IFSAC, or Pro-Board Hazardous Materials Operations 

6.      S-130/190, ICS 100, ICS 200, and ICS 700 within 12 months of hire.

7.      21 years of age

Full-Time Firefighter/Paramedic Minimum Qualifications:         

Must possess the following:

1.      High school diploma or GED

2.      Valid Colorado Paramedic or National Registry Paramedic certification or higher, obtained within two (2) months of hire

3.      Valid Colorado Driver’s License (or ability to obtain within 30 days  of employment)

4.      Valid Colorado, or IFSAC, or Pro-Board Fire Fighter I

5.      Valid Colorado, or IFSAC, or Pro-Board Hazardous Materials Operations

6.      S-130/190, ICS 100, ICS 200 and ICS 700 within 12 months of hire.

7.      21 years of age

Full-Time Single Role Paramedic Minimum Qualifications:         

Must possess the following:

1.      High School Diploma or GED

2.      A valid State of Colorado driver’s license (or ability to obtain within 30 days)

3.      Valid Colorado or National Registry Paramedic certification

4.      21 years of age

Preferred Requirements:

a.       Valid Colorado, or IFSAC, or Pro-Board Fire Fighter I

b.      Valid Colorado, or IFSAC, or Pro-Board Hazardous Materials Operations 

c.       S-130/190, ICS 100, ICS 200 and ICS 700

**If you do not have Colorado certifications, must be able to obtain Colorado certifications within one (1) year of hire. 

**If you do not currently hold a valid Colorado or National Registry Paramedic certification, and are offered and accept employment with the Authority, we reserve the right to send you to an Authority-sponsored paramedic education program in the future.

The Fire Chief may establish an eligibility list of qualified candidates. Candidates who are placed on the eligibility list will be notified of such. Eligibility lists are valid for up to 6 months, however, the Fire Chief reserves the right to re-test and establish a new list at any time.

Paramedic Only: Hiring Bonus of $1,000 will be offered at the start of employment.  

Paramedic Only: Bonus of $2,500 will be given upon successful completion of their Field Training Evaluation Program (FTEP)

* We use a 28 consecutive day “work period” and overtime starts after

212 hours worked in said 28-day “work period.”
