POSITION OVERVIEW

The Director of Annual Support is responsible for the leadership, management, and execution of Roundup River Ranch’s annual giving initiatives, a major gift portfolio, and Vail Valley based special events, as well as managing the Community Giving team. Reporting to and working directly with the Vice President of Advancement, the Director of Annual Support plays a vital role in growing the philanthropic revenue for a mission-driven organization. In collaboration with the Vice President of Advancement, responsibilities include meeting or exceeding the annual giving and events-related fundraising goals; acknowledging, stewarding, and growing annual fund contributions; successfully overseeing the implementation of signature special events (e.g., A Grateful Harvest, Bullseye Roundup, Donor Cultivation Events); representing the organization to donors and the public. This successful candidate will be self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and willing to take complete ownership of critical duties.

The candidate will maintain an in-depth knowledge of Roundup River Ranch and strategic funding priorities to establish long-term partnerships and strengthen existing relationships with the organization’s annual support funders, including Major Donors.  The Director of Annual Support will manage a portfolio of up to 160 mid-level to major donors. The candidate will also be involved in the current Capital Campaign. Of critical importance is the ability to work cooperatively with all members of the development team and Roundup River Ranch leadership in support of the Roundup River Ranch mission.   
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Annual Support Responsibilities: 

  • Work with the Vice President of Advancement to establish long-term annual support goals and objectives, strategize and implement the end-of-year & spring campaigns, and all other annual support & event-related fundraising efforts.
  • Responsible for the strategic development and implementation of Development programs, including but not limited to annual giving for Roundup River Ranch (direct mail, in-kind donations, workplace giving, special campaigns, Colorado Gives Day, events, monthly/online giving, and peer-to-peer; social media etc.).
  • Serve as direct supervisor to the Annual Giving Manager and manage the individual in the position as aligned with their job description. Support direct report(s) by engaging them in the goal setting process and performance management process to ensure success. 
  • Manage the Development Revenue Tracker and work with the VP of Advancement and Development team to make sure we are on track to hit budget and goal numbers aligned with Finance.
  • Work closely with all revenue-generating members of the Development Team to strategically identify and transition annual support donors to major gift donor portfolios for major gift donor discovery, cultivation, and solicitation.
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of up to 160 existing and prospective mid-level to major gift donors at discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship donor stages. 
  • Collaborate on leading the “Raise A Little Hell” donor membership program through donor engagement and event planning support.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Marketing and VP of Advancement, assist in creating external content and collateral for Annual Support efforts, including but not limited to appeals, newsletters, social media, website, and invitations.
  • Act as an ambassador for the organization to identify, cultivate and steward new prospective donors and individuals to support the Roundup River Ranch mission by giving, volunteerism, or in-kind donations.
  • Manage the Development Revenue Tracker to monitor and lead individual and group progress toward budget goals.

Fundraising Events: 

  • Work closely with the Vice President of Advancement, 3rd Party Event Management company, Development and Marketing teams and relevant committees to develop and implement annual giving special event fundraising strategies that will:
  • Enhance annual support baseline revenue.
  • Provide a pipeline of annual support donors at the mid and major donor-giving levels.
    • Provide community awareness, engagement, and volunteer opportunities.
    • These will include major galas and Eagle County and Denver cultivation events.

JOB COMPETENCIES

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills required. Demonstrated ability to write clear and persuasive proposals.
  • Excellent time management skills and a high degree of organization, careful attention to detail, ability to multitask, and to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to work on selected weekdays, nights, and weekend evenings as required
  • Well-disciplined, self-motivated, and goal-driven; able to work with a high degree of independence and lead a team.
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential matters and information.
  • High energy and passion for Roundup River Ranch’s mission are essential.
  • Flexibility and willingness to assume new tasks and special projects.
  • Ability to participate in cross-departmental projects, using tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to problem solve and think creatively, strong collaboration and team building skills required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Proven success in identifying and soliciting funds from individuals, corporations, and foundations from a variety of sources and in developing relationships with donors.
  • Proven track record of working with high net-worth individuals and C-Suite executives as part of special events and annual support activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and decision-making, managing people and budgets, and an ability to work in a hands-on environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge NXT, donor database, is highly desirable. Proven ability to learn quickly is acceptable.
  • Computer proficiency and practical experience in word processing, database and internet navigation
