SGM is seeking a full-time Accounting Manager to join our accounting team in our Glenwood Springs office. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to live, work, and play in Western Colorado. This individual will perform administrative accounting, planning, and supervisory work assisting with the direction of activities in the Accounting Department. Perform work with minimum supervision; recommend and implement improvements for accounting office efficiency. Work under the general supervision of the CFO. Exercise general supervision over other Accounting Department staff. This position is distinguished from the other positions of support staff by the amount of supervisory responsibility and technical responsibility. It is also distinct from the CFO in that this position does not have ultimate overall responsibility for the operations of the Accounting Department.
Other Primary Duties Include but are not Limited to:
Generally, supervises the entire general accounting system including:Performing Payroll Functions
Accounts Payable
Accounts Receivable/Cash Receipts
Invoicing
Sales and Use Tax Reporting
Has primary responsibility for supervision, training, and addressing the needs and concerns of accounting department support staff
Performs a variety of personal contact and phone work with management and employees which includes answering questions, providing information and resolving routine accounting issues
Performs duties requiring analysis of facts and selection of applicable methods and procedures.
Establishes and/or maintains filing systems and control requiring care and discretion pertaining to confidential data and information
Assists in preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations; posts and reconciles general ledger
Provides ad-hoc research and analysis in response to requests from the operations team, sector leaders, and the CFO
Assists in preparation and monitoring of annual operating budget
Works with outside auditors in compiling and retrieving information for completing the company’s annual audits
Performs duties requiring analysis of facts and selection of applicable methods and procedures and is proficient in computer operations and problem-solving
Assists in maintaining complex reports to assist the Accounting Department and other departments with meeting goals
Maintains records on fixed asset acquisitions and deletions for reconciliation at year-end and associated depreciation schedules
Minimum qualifications:
Excellent client service, verbal and written communication, and relationship building skills
Five (5) years in direct supervisory and accounting responsibilities
High school graduate with a two-year associates degree or equivalent college or business schooling with emphasis in business and accountingAdequate experience may substitute for secondary education requirement
Must be proficient in software applications such as MS Office and computer applications as they relate to the general accounting system for budgetary accounting and fixed asset reporting.
Proficiency in the use of a ten-key adding machine
Additional preferred qualifications:
Bachelors degree preferred
5+ years Accounting Management experience
Engineering firm experience
Deltek software experience a plus
Knowledge of Consulting Accounting principles desirable
