SGM is currently seeking an Electrical Design Engineer II or III to join our team. Our projects consist of a diverse mix from the municipal, commercial, industrial, and residential arenas.  This candidate will have a strong desire to live, work, and play in Western Colorado and preferably in the Roaring Fork Valley.

 
Job Requirements

Minimum qualifications for the successful candidate are:

Professional Licensure Status:Engineer II:Current Colorado registered Engineer in Training status (out of state registrants may be considered provided the candidate has the capability to acquire an in-state status within 6 months of hire)

Ability and desire to obtain Professional Engineer licensure.

Engineer IIIColorado registered Professional Engineer.

Or, NCEES licensure in another state with good standing and ability to obtain Colorado professional licensure with 90 days of starting date.

2-10 years of related experience in the following areas: Building power systems design for commercial and residential buildings or municipal assets (premises wiring). Tasks might include conductor and breaker sizing, receptacle layout, populating panel schedules, and basic NEC calculations.

General understanding of the NEC, building codes and construction practices
Some working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD, and basic use of Microsoft Office products.

Setup and production of engineering plans and details.

Able to coordinate design efforts with direction from senior engineers and multiple departments.

Technological prowess to learn and use new software.

Self-motivated with good verbal and written communication.

Willing and able to physically maneuver around confined and otherwise difficult-to-access spaces.

Periodically travel to projects and branch offices around western Colorado.

Valid driver’s license.

Additional preferred qualifications:

Low voltage, lighting, photometrics, SCADA, and control (Building Automation) design experience.

Photovoltaic design.

Experience with industrial and municipal applications such as: water and wastewater treatment facilities, lift stations, micro hydro, SCADA controls, and explosive environments.

Experience in mechanical HVAC systems.

Familiarity with Easy Power software and engineered studies with respect to the National Electrical Code.
