Accounting Specialist – Part-time or Full-time

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for providing accounting services to the Steadman Philippon Research Institute. Responsibilities include managing purchase requisition and purchase order process, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

Ideal candidate will be part-time with flexibility during weekdays in person.  However we are interested in looking at full-time candidates as well.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Purchasing:

Manage purchase requisition and purchase order process using Sage Intacct (Intacct).
Provide staff Intacct training.
Monitor staff inputs and troubleshoot as required.
Enter transactions as required.

Accounts Payable:

Manage accounts payable using Intacct.
Review, code, and enter vendor invoices.
Process check requests and expense reports.
Review and reconcile invoice discrepancies.
Address and respond to vendor inquiries.
Prepare check runs and ACH payments.

Revenue:

Process credit card payments.
Process check payments/check donations.

Develop and maintain Excel spreadsheets.
Assist with audit support as necessary.
Complete special projects as requested by Controller.

Requirements
Associate degree, or equivalate experience, in accounting or finance.  
Minimum two years of practical non-profit or public accounting experience, preferred.
Experience using accounting systems. 
Experience using Sage Intacct preferred.
Experience in federal funding (2 CFR 200) preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry and analysis.
Computer software experience including, but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
