We’re seeking a dynamic Senior Group Sales Manager with knowledge of our local market to join our team at The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa. You will manage accounts, ensure guest satisfaction, and drive new and repeat business.

Responsibilities Include:

 

Direct Sales:

  • Target results-oriented high revenue potential partnerships locally and nationally to ensure a successful direct sales program in accordance with departmental budget and marketing plan goals.
  • Focus on revenue-producing activities and maximize selling time by dedicating a minimum of 90% of work time to direct sales efforts.

Key Account Management:

  • Maximize current hotel key accounts by identifying and capturing those that offer revenue growth.
  • Develop customer profiles and maintain an effective trace system, including trace dates and references, to best meet client needs, resulting in superior account service and increased revenues.

New Account Development:

  • Capture competitor’s accounts through networking, research, and reader board surveys to target and solicit those most probable to generate new business.
  • Continually target new business through telemarketing, individual creativity, innovation, and research.
  • Acquire referrals from existing accounts and follow up on all leads within 24 hours of receipt to create new business for the resort.

Account Service and Management:

  • Maintain a well-documented, accurate, organized, and up-to-date file management system to serve clients and employers in the most expedient, organized, and knowledgeable manner.
  • Develop quarterly goal reports, complete trip detail reports after each sales mission, submit monthly account updates, and maintain accurate bonus detail reports.

Product Knowledge:

  • Conduct research, surveys, personal investigation, and study the marketplace and territory to effectively capitalize on the hotel’s strengths and competitors’ weaknesses and capabilities.

Marketing Strategy:

  • Develop a marketing strategy by analyzing historical, current, and future hotel/market trends and creating selling strategies to capture the maximum amount of revenue in rooms and catering to meet/exceed sales goals.
  • Participate in trade shows and community and professional organizations to maintain high visibility and achieve sales and revenue goals.
  • Host client events and site tours to showcase the benefits of the resort and build client relationships.

Collaboration and Problem-Solving:

  • Participate in problem-solving with other departments as required, related to business, including space conflicts, potential cancellations, and compromises between client needs and resort capabilities.

Training and Mentorship:

  • Train and mentor entry-level Sales Managers and colleagues on the team.
    Provide support and use experience to assist with difficult decisions in the absence of a Director of Sales.

Administrative and Process Improvement:

  • Maintain meeting listings on third-party websites and share sales information, including special offers via these sites and through third-party relationships.
  • Implement process improvements and best practices.
  • Leverage other Group Sales resources and administrative/support staff to achieve personal and team-related revenue goals.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay Rate: Starting at $87,000/DOE plus quarterly commission potential

 
Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of Group Sales experience in a luxury hotel environment required.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in hospitality management or business or like asset; OR equivalent combination of education an experience required.  
  • Expert in the Group Sales process 
  • Knowledge of the Vail Valley market (e.g., competition, economic trends, seasonability, supply and demand, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively communicate with guests in a friendly and positive manner both in written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to meet/exceed client needs, while supporting business goals of resort through strong probing and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, and legal documents. 
  • Expertly responds and resolves complaints from customers. 
  • Ability to effectively present information to top level clients and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of departmental interaction and organizational structure in a hospitality context.
  • Self motivated and competitive drive required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Cvent
  • Knowledge of Marriott systems is a plus.
