Planner I/II/III or Sr. Planner

Position Summary: Depending on the qualifications of the candidate, this position will be filled at either the Planner I, II or Planner III level. Position performs a wide range of current and long-range professional planning duties to effectively manage the growth and development of the Town.  Duties include but are not limited to the formulation, implementation, and modification of the Town of Eagle’s Land Use and Development Code and master plans, bringing current projects through the development review process, working with all department staff to ensure process and procedures are in place. This position is also responsible for aiding other Town of Eagle departments with a variety of special projects.  Planner III is differentiated from Planner I & II in the complexity of cases, code amendments, and policy work completed.  Performs other job-related duties as assigned. This position is very dynamic and provides abundant opportunities for professional growth. The applicant should have a strong background in development review and project management but will be encouraged to pursue areas of interest and will have the ability to gain experience in many different facets of planning, community development, and economic development.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) Certification preferred

• Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record required

• Strong computer skills including graphics, GIS experience preferred

• Superior written and verbal communication and presentation skills • Exceptional interpersonal skills, ability to interact with the public, trustees and commissions

Planner I, Qualifications and Hiring Range: $57,435 – $71,794
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Urban/Regional Planning, Urban Design, Architecture or related field and one-three years of experience in Municipal, County, or Regional Planning.

Planner II, Qualifications and Hiring Range: $62,440 – $78,050
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Urban/Regional Planning, Urban Design, Architecture or related field and four years of experience in Municipal, County, or Regional Planning. Master’s degree preferred.

Planner III/Sr. Planner, Qualifications and Hiring Range: $65,387 – $81,734 

The Top of the pay range for Planner III is $97,000.  A pay rate above the hiring range may be considered based on extensive experience, certifications and education.   A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Urban/Regional Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, or related field and a minimum of six years of experience in Municipal, County, or Regional Planning. Master’s degree preferred.
