Summer Program Assistant/CNA

Responsible for assisting all staff in ALL aspects of the program; with the knowledge and ability to successfully manage Timberline Adult Day Services in the absence of the Executive Director.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Responsibilities
1. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with participants, co-workers, family caregivers and the community.
2. Chart/log Daily Attendance and Activity sheet and other paperwork as identified
3. Actively participate in staff meetings, care plans, in-services and educational opportunities.
4. Assist in identifying participants strengths and challenges to develop a Care Plan identifying physical and or cognitive deficits or skills.
5. Ability/willingness to learn/understand the needs of participants regardless of age or disability.
6. Team effort with co-workers to plan activities that emphasize participants abilities to contribute to their sense of belonging, competence, and accomplishment.
7. Ability/willingness to teach a variety of crafts, music, games, exercise, plan and participate in adventures outside the facility.
8. Ensure the safety and comfort of participants while assisting in providing a nurturing environment where participants feel safe and secure.
9. Exhibits courtesy, compassion, and respect to participants, co-workers, caregivers, volunteers.
10. Provide ADL care to those unable to care for themselves. Examples: assist with meal / fluid intake, transfers, toileting, ambulation, exercise, lift minimum of 40lbs without restriction, occasional showering of participants.
11. Assist in marketing efforts and special events.
12. Assist participants in maintaining dignity (clean and dry, encourage good manners).
13. Observe participants and report any changes to the Director or designee, provide emergency 1st aide.
14. Assist / direct participants with Timberline “chores”.
15. Use infection control/prevention techniques. HANDWASHING!
16. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Commitment to cooperative performance in providing excellent care and an enriching social experience for our participants.
Strong organizational skills; excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability in independent functioning, ability to think on your feet, stay calm and adjust quickly to any number of “situations” that may arise with our diverse population.
Access to reliable transportation.
First Aid/CPR/AED certified within 60 days of employment.
QMAP Certified (preferred or willing to obtain)
Minimum one year experience (volunteer or employed) in a special population setting (adult day, acute or long term care, school-specific to DD/special needs, home care etc) or other qualifications deemed appropriate by the Executive Director.
Preferred CNA, LPN OR RN License
This is a full time, summer position (limited to May – Sept) with possible hours expanded year round.
Up to $28 per hour to start (depending on qualifications)
Up to $30 per hour to start with CNA, LPN (depending on qualifications)
Paid holidays
Hours are typically 830-430 with occasional evening and weekend hours required
